Can you tell us about your background and how you got started in content creation?
Sofia’s journey as a content creator started when she was eight. Her sister just got an Apple laptop and started experimenting with it when her sister wasn’t using it. She would lip-sync to popular songs, create movie trailers, and even film herself doing daily activities!
Sofia recalls, “I remember taking the computer with me to family get-togethers and recruiting my cousins to play different roles in the videos I filmed.” While experimenting with video creation, she discovered editing software online, downloaded it, and taught herself how to use it.
Sofia took video production courses in high school, where she learned how to use Final Cut and other software to enhance her video storytelling skills. It was during this time that she developed a passion for creating content that’s both inspiring and entertaining.

What inspired you to become an influencer and pursue a career in the creator economy?
Sofia has always been passionate about using video as her medium to convey ideas, tell stories, and connect with others. After completing her master’s degree in Global Digital Communications, she felt it was the perfect time to take her passion to the next level and pursue content creation as her career.
Sofia’s degree taught her a solid foundation in communication theory and practice, which has proved invaluable in her career as a content creator.
Through her content, Sofia hopes to inspire others to pursue their passions, explore new ideas, and connect with people from all walks of life. She believes that as a creator, she has the unique opportunity to shape how people think and feel about the world.
How did you manage to grow your audience across multiple platforms (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok)?
Sofia started with TikTok, which was slowly growing at first, but she didn’t stop. Instead, she committed to posting daily and experimented with different types of content until she found a formula that resonated well with her audience.
Once she began some traction on TikTok, she explored other platforms and started to cross-post her content on Instagram. This technique allowed her to reach a wider audience and expand beyond TikTok. Shortly after, she experimented with YouTube and began posting daily videos on that platform.
Sofia strongly believes that the key to growing an audience across different platforms is to consistently follow a posting schedule and experiment with different types of content. Paying attention to the audience’s feedback and adjusting content accordingly is equally important, too.
Have you faced any challenges or setbacks along the way? How did you overcome them?
Building an online following for Sofia comes with its share of challenges and setbacks. She admits the process was more challenging than expected but eventually found that consistency is key. She saw how posting regular content online is an effective strategy for keeping her audience engaged and building a strong following. But then again, developing new ideas for her daily content can also become a challenge.
To combat these roadblocks, Sofia put herself on a strict schedule and committed to creating content and posting it daily. This simple technique helped her stay on track and motivated, even though there were times when she felt uninspired. But admits there will be times when engagement levels dip. During these times, she found it helpful to take a step back, reevaluate her content strategy, and experiment with new approaches in content creation again.
How would you describe your content style and the message you aim to convey through your posts and videos?
Sofia’s content style focuses on ASMR. These are stimulating sensory content, like whispering, crisp sounds, slow movements, and personal attention. These sounds can trigger the ASMR response among viewers, causing them to relax, be comforted, and even fall asleep.
Sofia’s messaging is mostly informative and uses ASMR videos to share various information with her followers, including skin care tips, organization ideas, recipes, hair care, and more.
How do you stay creative and come up with new ideas for content on different platforms?
Sofia admits it can be tough to stay creative and come up with new ideas for content. To keep her content fresh, she draws inspiration from different sources, like other creators, her experiences, and feedback from her audience.
She also brainstorms ideas regularly. She has a notebook where she jots down any idea that comes to might, regardless of how small or seemingly insignificant they are. According to Sofia, this helps her stay organized and ensures she doesn’t forget any potentially great ideas.
Sofia also pays close attention to the trends and popular topics in her niche. This way, she can create content that’s relevant and timely while being able to put her unique spin on it.
Lastly, Sofia takes breaks and allows herself to recharge to stay creative. She explains, “I find that when I’m feeling burnt out or uninspired, taking a step back and doing something completely unrelated to content creation can be incredibly helpful.”
She either goes out for a walk, spends time with friends and family, or takes a nap, and vouches how these approaches allow her brain to rest and recharge, making it easier for her to come up with new ideas and fresh inspiration.
What role do you think influencers play in shaping consumer behavior and trends?
Sofia sees influencers becoming a powerful force in shaping customer behavior and trends. Because of influencers’ ability to reach and engage with larger audiences, they now have the power to influence the purchasing decisions of their followers and their perceptions of certain brands and products.
For Sofia, influencers shape consumer behavior through product recommendations. When influencers promote a product on social media, it can lead to increased interest and sales for that product. This happens because followers trust the influencer’s opinion and are more likely to patronize a brand or product if an influencer recommends them.
Sofia explains, “I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase, ‘TikTok made me buy it.’ I think we have all bought things we have seen on social media because we believe in and trust the person promoting it. This is the reason why I always make a point of only recommending products that I believe in and use or would use myself.”
Have you ever faced any ethical dilemmas as an influencer? If so, how did you handle them?
Fortunately, Sofia hasn’t experienced any ethical dilemmas since she started as an influencer. But she shares she turned down offers of working with several brands because she hasn’t used the brand or doesn’t really believe in what the brand does.
Can you share any memorable campaigns or brand collaborations you’ve worked on through “The Influencer Marketing Factory”?
Sofia has some memorable campaigns and brand collaborations through “The Influencer Marketing Factory,” and two came to her mind: Paula’s Choice and Chobani.
Sofia has been a big fan of Chobani oat milk and coffee creamer, so she was very excited when the agency got her a brand deal. It was an excellent experience for Sofia because she was able to promote a product that she has been using in her daily life.
Sofia has also been an avid fan and user of Paula’s Choice skincare products and was hopeful to work with them. The agency made this possible when they brought Paula’s Choice to her — and Sofia couldn’t believe it was actually happening!
Working with Paula’s Choice was an amazing opportunity because she has been using and recommending the products to her followers for a long time. Her collab with the brand allowed her to share her love for their products with a wider audience and help others discover the wonders and benefits of their skincare line.
How does the agency facilitate collaboration and provide opportunities for its influencers to succeed in the creator economy space?
The agency has been very proactive in offering Sofia opportunities to collaborate with brands that she doesn’t have any access to. Sofia shares, “I’m not a good negotiator, and I’m grateful that they [the agency] handled that aspect for me.”
Sofia would also turn to the agency whenever she needed any advice or guidance. For instance, when she was approached about starting her own Snapchat channel. She wasn’t familiar with the platform and sought advice from the agency on what should be her next move. They decided to pursue it, with the agency leading the charge and researching that option. Sofia wouldn’t have considered taking this route without the agency’s input.
How do you approach collaboration with brands and other influencers?
Sofia hasn’t collaborated with other influencers yet, but when she collaborates with a brand, she does it with a brand that aligns with her values and the content she regularly produces. Sofia emphasizes the importance of having clear expectations beforehand, which usually includes discussing the scope of the collaboration, deadlines, compensation, and other relevant details.
What factors do you consider when deciding to work with a brand or endorse a product?
As an influencer, Sofia takes her responsibility to her followers very seriously. She wants to make sure that any brand she works with aligns with her personal values and interests.
Before accepting any brand collaborations, she always does her own research and ensures that it’s a brand or product that she uses or would use daily.
In addition, she would consider whether the brand or product aligns with the interests and needs of her followers. She wants to ensure that any endorsement she makes is something that her followers will find valuable and relevant to their lives. She also looks into the brand’s reputation.
How do you balance sponsored content and your authentic voice to maintain credibility with your audience?
Sofia makes sure to fully understand the brand and their products or services before agreeing to collaborate. She would turn down any brands with messaging different from her beliefs and values.
When creating sponsored content, Sofia aims to incorporate the brand’s messaging in the most natural and seamless way possible while still staying true to her own voice and style. She always discloses to her audience when a post is sponsored or includes affiliate links to maintain transparency.
What advice do you have for up-and-coming influencers who want to monetize their content and turn it into a career?
Sofia has a few tips for aspiring influencers who want to monetize their content and turn content creation into a career. The first is to remain consistent, which is key to building engagement and attracting brands. Setting and sticking to a regular posting schedule will go a long way to maintaining consistency.
Second, she encourages aspiring influencers to ignore hate comments. She says, “Trolls and negative comments come with the territory of being an influencer.” Anyone who wants to make it big as an influencer should never take these comments personally and just focus on creating content that they enjoy and resonates with their audience.
Third, she advises not to worry too much about what other people think. As an influencer, it’s easy to get caught up and worry about what others will think. However, it’s important to remember that the most important thing is to create content you enjoy and speaks to your audience.
Lastly, she reminds aspiring influencers to have fun with the entire process. They should be passionate about their content and enjoy what they’re doing. They shouldn’t be afraid to experiment with new ideas and try new things, and always keep in mind the reason why they decided to become a content creator in the first place.
