Substack Podcasts Can Now Be Found On Spotify

Spotify has announced a new partnership with Substack, allowing its podcast creators to distribute their free and gated content to Spotify’s 602 million monthly active users globally. The integration enables Substack creators to reach new and existing audiences on the audio streaming platform.

“Spotify Open Access enables creators to grow their businesses while maintaining full control of their subscriber relationships. Our new integration with Substack empowers their creators to reach new and existing audiences where they listen most while giving Spotify listeners access to some of the world’s foremost content,” states Stephanie Shaer, Spotify’s Head of Partner Strategy and BD.

Substack joins platforms like Bankless, Patreon, and The Wall Street Journal, which offer subscriber-based content through Spotify Open Access. According to the announcement, the integration expands the opportunity for podcast creators to provide premium audio subscriptions to Spotify’s large user base.

With the new integration, premium episodes from popular Substack shows like Rich Text, Split Zone Duo, and Culture Study will be available on Spotify for the first time.

“We are truly so excited for our incredible community to be able to access the full breadth of our podcast offerings right on Spotify,” says Emma Gray, cohost of Rich Text.

Split Zone Duo’s Alex Kirshner states, “Just about everything I listen to, I listen to on Spotify. I know I’m one of many. We’re very excited to be able to reach people on a ubiquitous platform and provide an ideal experience for our most important customers: our subscribers.”

Anne Helen Petersen, host of Culture Study, shares, “I love feeling like we’re able to give supporters of the show a little (or a big!) treat with our subscriber content, which will now be even easier right on Spotify.”

Spotify states the integration allows Substack creators to easily add Spotify distribution while retaining control over their content, subscriber base, and revenue.
