Hannah Rose’s Advice For Aspiring Streamers: Why Perfection Is Overrated

Hannah Rose, a Minecraft content creator and streamer, is carving out her niche in the competitive online gaming world. The young streamer, who launched her online career at 14, has cultivated a substantial following across major platforms like Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok. Hannah’s journey from amateur creator to influential online personality offers valuable insights into industry dynamics and the challenges young entrepreneurs face. Her success story, marked by creative gaming strategies and resilience in the face of skepticism, shows the opportunities and hurdles in the content creation space.

Hannah’s content primarily revolves around Minecraft, but she also diversifies into other games and real-life streaming. Her early forays into content creation included videos on popular children’s gaming sites, but Minecraft truly captured her attention. Hannah recalls, “I started making Minecraft content when I was 14, right when I got the game.” However, it wasn’t until high school that she began to take her content creation more seriously.

The pandemic proved to be a turning point for her. “When the pandemic happened, I decided I want to try and take this seriously,” she says. The gamer found her niche in Minecraft PvP, particularly in a mini-game called Bed Wars, which propelled her to popularity on TikTok and Twitch.

Hannah attributes her viral success to her unique approach to gaming. “I would take a different approach to [Bed Wars], and I would troll people in the game and put them in traps,” she explains. “I wouldn’t really try to win. I would try to have fun with it.”

Misconceptions in Content Creation

While rising to fame in Minecraft, Hannah faced unique challenges early in her career. “For a while, a lot of people on TikTok thought that I wasn’t playing the game, and they thought it was like someone else or a boy playing it for me,” she recalls. This skepticism about her gaming skills was surprising and frustrating for the creator.

Hannah acknowledges the mental toll of constant public scrutiny. “It is very mentally taxing sometimes having to see you being perceived by so many people,” she explains. “Even right now, there’s probably someone scrolling on TikTok watching a video of me and deciding whether or not they like that content or like me.”

Reflecting on her journey, Hannah wishes she had known “not to take what people say too seriously.” She advises aspiring creators to focus on constructive feedback from respected peers rather than negative comments.

The content creator emphasizes organization in managing her career’s demands. “I use Google Calendar for everything,” she says. “Being organized helps you get more stuff done.” She also credits her support network, including her team and fellow creators, for her success.

Despite the challenges, Hannah remains passionate about her work. “I think it is the best job in the entire world, and I think it is such a privilege to be able to do something like this and just be in front of so many people every day,” she affirms.

VidCon 2024 Highlights: Hannah’s Panels

VidCon began as a central gathering for YouTube and online content creators, but it has since grown to welcome talent from TikTok, Instagram, Twitch, and other platforms. It hosts annual conventions for digital creators, video fans, and influencers, featuring Creator tracks, performances, meet-and-greets, and other activities. This year’s VidCon takes place from June 26 to 29 in Anaheim, California.

Hannah participates in two panels at VidCon 2024, showcasing her expertise in Minecraft and discussing her experiences as a woman in gaming:

“I’m on a few panels, and one of them is Minecraft-oriented. We will be doing Minecraft-themed trivia,” Hannah revealed to us on the eve of the event, adding playfully, “I pray I get things right. I don’t fail and say the wrong answers to the questions because that would be really embarrassing because I’ve been playing this game for ten years.”

She is particularly excited about a panel featuring women in gaming. “I hope to share our experiences for the past few years with the audience,” she says. “I’m friends with many people on that panel, so I’m excited to share our life experiences and answer any questions that people might have for us.”

For first-time VidCon attendees, Hannah offers practical advice: “Look through the schedule and make your own schedule of everything you want to do and see. And then don’t forget to walk throughout the entire main floor and check out all the fun booths.”

Hannah Reveals Future Plans

Hannah has set her sights on new horizons in digital entertainment. While keeping some projects under wraps, she has hinted at an exciting launch in early July. “I have something pretty secret, but it’s coming out in early July,” she teases, piquing interest among her followers.

A significant focus for Hannah is reinvigorating her YouTube presence. “I really want to make a bigger return to YouTube,” she states. “I’ve been a little bit hesitant to do so just because for a while, YouTube was not my strong point. It gave me a lot of stress, and it wasn’t my favorite thing. But I’ve found my passion again, and I’m excited to return to that.”

Drawing from her experiences, the passionate gamer offers valuable advice to aspiring creators. She emphasizes the importance of taking action rather than waiting for perfect conditions. “Don’t be afraid; just jump in and get started with whatever you have in mind,” Hannah advises. “If you want to start streaming, don’t be afraid. Just jump in and do your first stream.”

Hannah advocates for a gradual approach to building a content creation career. “Every stream, you can improve on one thing,” she explains. “Next stream, you can get some panels; the next stream after that, you can figure out all of your commands. You can figure out your mod team, and eventually, you’ll build to what you want to be and have.”
