Meta’s AI Studio To Launch In Australia And New Zealand, Bringing AI Assistants To Local Creators

Meta’s AI Studio, a platform allowing users to create, share, and discover AI assistants, is poised for expansion into Australian and New Zealand (ANZ) markets.

Launched in the United States at the end of July, AI Studio enables users to develop AI assistants for various purposes, from teaching cooking to generating memes and crafting Instagram captions

Meta Australia Managing Director Will Easton reveals the company’s vision for democratizing AI creation across its platforms: Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.

“[AI Studios] will give creators a way to communicate with their communities at scale and any time of the day or night,” Easton told Mediaweek.

He added that creators can use AI Studio to develop AIs capable of chatting with their community, answering questions, and creating content.

While Meta has not announced a specific release date for ANZ, the company is actively working on bringing the program to these markets.

This expansion aligns with Meta’s broader strategy to empower users across its major platforms. Per the company’s Q2 2024 report, it boasts 3.27 billion daily active users across its apps, an increase of 30 million from the previous quarter.

Looking ahead, Easton outlines Meta’s vision for AI Studio’s potential business applications.

“Today, most small businesses or brands have a website, social media presence, and email address. In the future, every small business will also have an AI agent their customers can interact with,” Easton predicts for Mediaweek.

According to Easton, Meta’s long-term goal is to simplify the process for businesses to integrate their content and catalogs into AI agents, potentially driving sales and reducing costs.
