Instagram Tests Flippable Digital Cards With QR Codes For Creators
Instagram is testing new flippable digital profile cards for select creators, enhancing how they showcase profiles and content.
The feature, shared by creator Goldie Chan, presents a two-sided digital card with distinct functionalities.
One side of the card displays a QR code for quick profile connection, while the reverse side provides a comprehensive profile overview.
This overview includes the creator’s image, bio, profile category, and business links, summarizing their Instagram presence.
Introducing these cards aims to simplify the process of connecting with creators on the platform. Users can scan the QR code to immediately follow a profile, potentially streamlining networking and follower acquisition for content creators.
This move marks Instagram’s renewed push towards QR code integration, following the addition of QR codes for Broadcast Channels in June.
The platform has featured various iterations of QR codes since 2018, though user adoption has been limited.
While the feature is currently in limited testing, all Instagram users can access their QR code through the “Share profile” option on their profile. This existing functionality allows users to generate a QR code linked to their account, even without the new digital card format.
In July, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri unveiled an IG update allowing users to add collaborators to posts after publication.
Collaborative posts appear in the feeds of both the original creator and the collaborator to expand the content reach.
