TikTok Launches New Music Promotion Feature That Allows Apple Music, Spotify Sharing

TikTok has introduced ‘Share to TikTok,’ a feature that enables users to share music, podcasts, and audiobooks directly from Apple Music and Spotify on the social media platform.

The integration allows content sharing through two primary methods: posts to the TikTok Feed, including For You Page and Stories, using green screen or Photo Mode features, and direct messages through TikTok Messages. Shared content includes a link to its source on the streaming platform.

“Our ‘Share To TikTok’ integration enables seamless sharing of content from music streaming services to TikTok, unlocking a limitless new method of creative expression for users and creators alike,” said Lindsey Kelt Zikry, TikTok’s Global Product Partnerships Lead, in a news release.

The feature builds on TikTok’s existing ‘Add to Music App’ function, which allows users to save tracks discovered on TikTok to their preferred streaming service. According to Ole Obermann, TikTok’s Global Head of Music Business Development, this earlier feature has generated “hundreds of millions of track saves and billions of streams” on partner music streaming services.

“‘Share to TikTok’ takes the user experience full circle and will be an amazing way of promoting artists and tracks to the TikTok community,” Obermann stated.

The new feature aims to drive further discovery and engagement on streaming services while expanding creative options for TikTok users. Content eligible for sharing includes individual tracks, albums, playlists, and other audio content from participating digital streaming providers (DSPs).

TikTok recently announced it would discontinue its music-streaming application, TikTok Music, on November 28. Obermann revealed that the closure focuses on “furthering TikTok’s role in driving even greater music listening and value on music streaming services, for the benefit of artists, songwriters, and the industry.”
