Mtion Interactive: A Creator Platform That Lets Anyone Make Games Without Writing a Single Line of Code

Mtion Interactive gives creators new ways to connect with their audiences through gaming, as founder Jeremy Hartmann introduces a platform making game creation accessible to everyone.

Drawing from his background in fine arts and computer science, Jeremy has built a tool reshaping how creators and gamers interact.

“Mtion preceded a project I worked on around immersive live streaming,” Jeremy recalls his PhD research at the University of Waterloo, focusing on human-computer interaction and virtual reality. “That project looked at how we can enable live streams to be more engaging to an audience and fan base.”

His research project explored virtual reality and gaming applications, leading to publication at a major computer science conference. “We were exploring many different things in VR: virtual worlds, gaming, and how that all intersects,” Jeremy shares. “Out of that, the ideas of Mtion came. I’ve been iterating on that core concept and idea over the past year and a half to two.”

Making Technical Innovation Accessible

Jeremy recognized a crucial need in the creator economy: while many creators wanted to build interactive experiences, technical barriers often stood in their way.

“Many people have hobbies, but video games are a particularly interesting intersection in the creation space because they encompass many things,” Jeremy notes. “So it encompasses 3D modeling, audio game design, interaction, and everything else. I noticed that people wanted to create and share experiences but didn’t have the technical know-how or skills to do that.”

To address these challenges, Mtion Interactive implements several innovative solutions. “We’re employing a couple of things like removing coding,” Jeremy explains. “Traditionally, gaming necessitated coding. So, I removed that and focused on the visual aspects. It’s like manipulating things through drag and drop if you want to program something using a visual programming tool.”

The platform integrates AI technology to enhance the creation process. “We’re deeply rooted in using AI in an intuitive way that allows people to express what they want to do through natural language prompts by typing it into a thing and producing what they want inside the space,” Jeremy adds.

Dynamic Content Creation and Community Engagement

Mtion Interactive introduces dynamic content creation through what the team calls “living experiences.”

Jeremy draws a parallel to social media: “If a creator creates content on Instagram, they’re constantly uploading images and pictures. You go back to their page, and it’s constantly checking and changing because they’re constantly adding things.” This approach extends throughout the platform, such as on “Instagram’s front page.”

“If someone publishes a game on Mtion, there could be a story being told or cool things you can interact with. But then you go back a week later and find a new section they added,” Jeremy explains. “These experiences are not static; they’re changing, and creators can easily create and modify them.”

Early adopters demonstrate the platform’s potential, particularly in the live-streaming community. “Many of our creators who are using it currently for live streams, especially VTubers, are doing a lot of chat interaction,” Jeremy notes. “So if, say, you’re watching on stream, someone’s using Mtion as like a virtual backdrop, and they have a chat command, people can type in chat command into Twitch and then that will go to Mtion, change a camera, explode a barrel or something inside the background.”

“We just rolled out the playing experience,” Jeremy shares. “We’re enabling people with access to that invite-only section of Mtion to publish their spaces. And now, people can go into the environments they’ve been using on stream.”

According to Jeremy, the new feature is based on user feedback because they were creating these “cool experiences.” Now, he adds, they have a “whole new dimension to explore through publishing and letting their fans experience it through a live stream or video directly inside the space.”

Future Revenue Models

While currently pre-revenue, Mtion Interactive plans multiple monetization channels to support creators. “We’re thinking about how we can empower our creators to create wealth for themselves,” Jeremy points out.

The platform will offer various revenue opportunities: “There are many things in the works right now, but one is around the published experiences themselves. Instead of having it free, it could be like a cover charge or a [venue] donation. You go into a space, and then that would be split between us.”

Jeremy outlines plans for an asset marketplace: “There are asset stores within the actual editor aspect of Mtion. Creators and game developers can publish assets, sell them, and get a percentage cut off.”

The platform’s gaming focus reflects significant market opportunities. “Gaming is bigger than Hollywood movies, music, and traditional sports,” Jeremy states. “If you combine all three, the market cap of those three is less than that of gaming worldwide.”

“Many people play games and connect with characters in games,” Jeremy notes. “It’s a form of storytelling that I think is powerful. And that’s what we’re doing for creators: giving them access to that power. They might have access to live streaming and other forms of verticals, but we’re giving them access to this new, growing, massive form of entertainment seamlessly.”

Community Development and Future Plans

With a full launch planned in the near future, Mtion Interactive maintains strong user relationships through Discord

“Our Discord is active,” Jeremy shares. “We try to keep a tight loop between getting feedback from them, implementing feedback, and going back and forth. We’re trying to be on top of feeding in that feedback, iterating, and giving it back to them.”

For interested creators, Mtion Interactive is available through Steam, with waitlist access to advanced features.

“We want Mtion to be the go-to no-code game engine for content creators that empowers them to create interactive experiences,” Jeremy concludes. “It is in the vein of what Roblox did for early experiences aimed at children. We see Mtion as this vehicle that enables these creators to explore this new dimension.”

“That’s what we’re going for—creating a platform that produces wealth for the creators, enables them to grow, and can rival Roblox and Fortnite.”
