PGA TOUR Golf Creator Series Expands After Massive YouTube Success

The PGA TOUR and Pro Shop Studios announced an expansion of their creator-driven content strategy for 2025, building on the viewership success of their inaugural Creator Classic event.

This expansion capitalizes on the success of the single-event format in 2024, which showcased 16 golf content creators competing in an individual stroke play tournament. Over four weeks, the event reached 60 million golf fans across social media.

Creator Series Set for the 2025 FedExCup Season

Following the strategy shift, the upcoming PGA TOUR Creator Series will feature three live tournaments spread across the 2025 FedExCup Season:

  • THE PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass – March 12
  • Truist Championship at The Philadelphia Cricket Club – May 7
  • TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club – August 20

Leveraging Content Creators for Fan Engagement

“The inaugural Creator Classic was a valuable test of how we can connect with fans and creators in new ways,” Chris Wandell, PGA TOUR’s SVP of Media, stated in a news release. “We’re thrilled with how the concept unfolded at the 2024 TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club.”

In 2025, the series will expand participation to include 20+ golf content creators, blending familiar faces with new personalities. Each tournament will feature unique competition formats and player fields, with detailed announcements to come.

Production Team and Multi-Platform Distribution

The series will be produced by Pro Shop Studios, creators of the Netflix series “Full Swing,” in collaboration with PGA TOUR Studios. The production team includes Emmy-winning producers Chad Mumm and Mark Olsen, alongside creative executives KP Anderson, Kiley Homan, and Greg Hopfe.

Key technologies such as ShotLink powered by CDW, Trackman shot tracing, and broadcast-quality graphics will enhance the viewer experience.

The tournaments will air across multiple platforms, including:

  • The PGA TOUR YouTube Channel
  • ESPN+
  • FAST channels like Pluto TV, Roku, Samsung TV Plus, and more
  • NBC platforms

Creator Council to Drive Innovation

To further amplify fan engagement, the PGA TOUR has launched a Creator Council composed of leading golf content creators. This group will collaborate on strategies to enhance fan interactions and explore fresh content opportunities.

Golf companies are aware of these influencers’ potential. In October 2024, Volvik USA, Inc., a golf ball manufacturer, announced a collaboration with social media influencer Ryan Rustand, known as Coach Rusty, to raise awareness and funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Event Details and Fan Access

Fans will have the opportunity to attend these events in person, with Practice Round tickets available for each venue. The PGA TOUR plans to reveal detailed competition formats, player names, and additional event specifics in the coming months.

“This series represents the next step in Pro Shop’s mission to unite golf and culture in innovative ways,” stated Chad Mumm, co-founder of Pro Shop Studios.
