Beauty Influencer Calls Out Skincare Brand For ‘Wrongful Advertising’ Using  AI-generated Video

Beauty influencer Arielle Lorre reports that skincare brand Skaind Official created an AI-generated video depicting her endorsing their products without her consent. Lorre, 39, gained popularity on TikTok for content about maintaining youthful skin without Botox through skincare routines.

As indy100 reports, Lorre discovered what she describes as a digitally manipulated podcast interview showing her promoting Skaind’s products.

“Last week people started sending me this podcast interview of me sitting down talking about skincare, raving about this one specific product I was using,” Lorre stated in a TikTok video. “The entire podcast of me promoting this product was digitally manipulated by this company.”

The alleged deepfake video shows someone resembling Lorre claiming she “swears” by Skaind’s products to achieve a “glass skin effect.” Lorre maintains she has never used the brand’s products, was not compensated, and did not film the video.

A male individual also appearing in the alleged AI video commented that he too was digitally impersonated without consent, stating: “For everyone else I’m the guy in the video—but it’s not me. Arielle and I have never met.”

Brand Responds to Allegations

Skaind Official, which markets itself as using “Korean technology” and offering “100 percent natural and vegan skincare,” responded to indy100’s inquiries about the incident.

“As a global brand, we work with various marketing teams and external agencies across different regions,” the company stated. “The content creation for the U.S. market was handled by an external agency, which used AI tools to generate visual assets.”

The company claims its marketing team accessed the content “through an artificial intelligence platform without being aware it was a recognized person or with image rights.” Skaind reports terminating its relationship with the agency involved and implementing internal safeguards.

Concern Over AI Rights in Creator Economy

This incident emerged amid increasing concern about AI’s impact on creator compensation. According to Business Insider, some brands now include clauses in contracts requesting licenses for AI purposes for creators’ names, images, likeness, eye movements, facial expressions, and voice cadence.

Research from Traackr indicates that 75% of consumers at least somewhat agree they would want disclosure when AI is used to create content they consume, highlighting the importance of transparency in maintaining trust in the creator economy.

Lorre said she sent the brand a cease and desist letter but has since been blocked by the company. “This is going to be a huge problem in the future, and it could happen to anybody, and it’s going to get so much worse,” she warned her followers.
