COY Creator: A ‘Business-In-A-Box’ Platform Helping Creators Escape Platform Dependence
Creator startup COY Creator aims to give content creators complete ownership of their data and distribution channels.
The company offers a “business-in-a-box” solution that allows creators to consolidate content, live events, and merchandise sales without relinquishing control of their data.
CEO Matt Silk and CRO Will Keenan told Tubefilter that COY Creator addresses “a significant gap in the creator economy” by developing a platform that isn’t beholden to shareholders.
The platform provides tools for creators to build custom sites where they can engage with fans while managing multiple revenue streams.
Available features include brand sponsorships, creator collaborations, e-commerce, and financial services.
Revenue options such as subscriptions, paywalls, gifts, personalized video requests, and sponsorships can be integrated into COY-developed sites.
Initial partners include YouTuber Ed Bassmaster, former Vine star King Bach, and traditional media celebrities like “Sopranos” actor Drea DeMatteo and Bollywood celebrity Shweta Pandit.
Bassmaster’s COY-minted website showcases the platform’s capabilities, featuring a video feed with paywalled posts, tour dates, and merchandise listings.
Silk and Keenan position COY Creator as a complement to existing social media platforms, acknowledging that major platforms provide certain guarantees regarding viewership and growth. They envision creators using COY’s toolkit while continuing to benefit from established platforms.
Keenan, who previously worked at multi-channel networks Maker Studios and Endemol Beyond, leads COY’s creator roster and revenue models.
Keenan aims to bring together digital stars and traditional media celebrities, leveraging his experience in talent relations to expand the platform’s reach.
The company is also developing AI-powered tools like chatbots and marketing guides to supplement COY’s creator-focused approach.
