FDA Reportedly Investigates MrBeast, Logan Paul’s Lunchly After 10+ Consumers Report Disturbing Issue
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is reviewing multiple consumer complaints about Lunchly, a Lunchables alternative product launched by internet personalities Logan Paul, KSI, and MrBeast.
According to TMZ, the FDA has confirmed that over ten consumers have filed reports about the product, including one citing a potential illness connection. The agency is reportedly evaluating whether a public health advisory is warranted.
The investigation stems from consumer reports of moldy cheese in Lunchly’s pizza product line. Content creator Rosanna Pansino documented the issue during a product review, bringing widespread attention to the quality concerns.
“I was filming a video comparing Lunchables to Lunchly and was shocked when I opened ‘The Pizza’ Lunchly. The cheese had MOLD!” Pansino wrote on X. “The expiration date was still 2 months away! I checked online and found at least a dozen other people posting that their Lunchly’s were moldy too.”
A Lunchly representative defended the company’s manufacturing processes, telling TMZ that all products undergo “multiple inspections and approvals,” including USDA oversight, before leaving production facilities.
The FDA emphasizes that food producers must comply with Current Good Manufacturing Practices regulations to ensure product safety and indicates that appropriate action will follow if violations are found.
Paul and KSI addressed the controversy on the “Impaulsive” podcast, suggesting the complaints are attempts to generate views and engagement at their expense.
Recent nutritional concerns have emerged regarding traditional packaged lunch options.
In April, Consumer Reports conducted a study on Lunchables and similar meal kits, revealing the presence of heavy metals, including lead, at levels deemed “relatively high” by the organization.
Amy Keating, a registered dietician at Consumer Reports, pointed out their highly processed nature and noted that regular consumption of processed meat, a key component in many such products, had been associated with increased cancer risks in some studies.
Logan Paul and KSI’s sports beverage brand, Prime, has also faced scrutiny, including a call from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer in July 2023 for an FDA investigation into its high caffeine content.
