Georgia State’s New NIL Exchange Program Turns Student-Athletes Into Business Partners
Georgia State Athletics has launched a new digital marketplace called GSU Panthers’ Exchange, designed to connect student-athletes with businesses for Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities through a partnership with Teamworks Influencer.
The free platform provides businesses direct access to a searchable Panther student-athlete database, enabling companies to message athletes or request contact information for NIL partnerships. Available opportunities include autograph signings, social media promotions, endorsements, camps, clinics, personal appearances, and charitable initiatives.
Athletics Director Charlie Cobb said in a news release that this platform streamlines the entire NIL process for our student-athletes and potential business partners.
The system automates payment processing and compliance reporting, with all transactions consolidated into a single 1099 form at year-end for both parties. While facilitating connections, neither Georgia State Athletics nor Teamworks Influencer participates in negotiations between businesses and athletes.
Teamworks Influencer, which currently serves over 3,500 collegiate and professional sports teams with more than 70,000 active athletes, provides users access to its content delivery system. This gives Georgia State athletes tools to manage media assets, including photography and videos, and analytics to track audience engagement.
The university plans to use platform data to analyze metrics affecting attendance, recruiting, fan engagement, and fundraising objectives.
Teamworks Influencer has been vital in four other NIL platform launches this year: the Seawolf NIL Exchange (University of Alaska Anchorage Athletics Department), the BRUNO Exchange (Brown University’s Division of Athletics and Recreation), the Eastern NIL Exchange (Eastern Michigan University’s Department of Athletics), and the EKU Colonels Marketplace Exchange (Eastern Kentucky University Athletics).
