What TikTok Star Andrea Cheong Brings To Kering’s “Fashion Our Future” Podcast
Luxury group Kering has hired TikTok influencer Andrea Cheong to host the second season of its “Fashion Our Future” podcast.
Cheong, known for her sustainable fashion content and a recent book on smart shopping, brings a fresh perspective to the luxury conglomerate’s sustainability initiative.
According to WWD, Kering discovered Cheong through an assistant following her TikTok account, where she analyzes clothing quality by examining construction details like seams, buttons, and materials.
Cheong’s diverse guest list for the podcast includes independent designers Emily Adams Bode Aujla, Marcelo Gaia, and Ksenia Schnaider, alongside industry figures like FIT’s Fashion Museum director Valerie Steele and Fashion Revolution founder Orsola de Castro.
The podcast will explore topics such as upcycling, fair wages in New York’s garment district, and supply chain transparency.
The host’s background includes shifting from traditional fashion influencing to sustainability advocacy.
Cheong cites a “mental health crisis” related to her previous role in the industry as a catalyst for her current focus. Her “Mindful Monday Method,” launched in 2019, aims to help consumers better understand their wardrobes.
Cheong focuses on making sustainability concepts accessible to a broad audience, including those new to the topic. She hopes the podcast will provide listeners with tools to think critically about consumption and offer insights for those pursuing fashion careers.
“So many people exclude sustainability from the idea of fashion because it might look a certain way to them, or it might be so out of reach, but I hope that the everyday way that we’re presenting this makes others feel included,” Cheong said in a statement.
The podcast will be released in five series of three episodes each, with one video episode available on YouTube monthly.
