Why MakeMyTrip’s Latest Ads Feature Hindi-Speaking Foreign Influencers

Indian online travel company MakeMyTrip launched a new advertising campaign featuring non-Indian content creators who speak fluent Hindi.

The campaign highlights various benefits of using the platform for international travel and stars Drew Hicks, Yechan C. Lee, and Agu Stanley Chiedozie.

These creators, known for their Hindi fluency and humorous social media content, appear in separate ads promoting specific MakeMyTrip features.

According to afaqs!, the benefits showcased include a 100% refund on visa rejections for international flights, customer support for trip extensions, full refunds on international flight cancellations, and discounts across multiple credit cards.

  • Hicks, an American based in Mumbai with over 1,087,000 Instagram followers, appears in an ad touting credit card discounts.
  • Chiedozie, a Nigerian creator living in Noida with 495,000 Instagram followers, features in one ad focusing on ticket cancellation refunds and another on rapid customer support for trip changes.
  • Lee, a Korean creator who grew up in Bihar and has 186,000 Instagram followers, stars in an ad highlighting the visa rejection refund policy.

This campaign marks the second instance of a brand collaborating with Hindi-speaking non-Indian content creators, following a previous WakeFit ad featuring Hicks and Chiedozie.

The trend of foreign creators producing content in Hindi and other Indian languages is growing in Indian social media, with creators from various countries participating.

MakeMyTrip’s strategy aligns with leveraging foreign Hindi-speaking creators in Indian advertising.
