Merchantwise Group Expands Portfolio With Social Media Agency Buyout

Merchantwise Group has acquired The Social CliQ and The Content CliQ to expand its digital marketing portfolio.

The deal brings both social media marketing agencies under the umbrella of Merchantwise Group, which manages major gaming and entertainment brands, including Minecraft, Xbox, and Call of Duty, across Australia and New Zealand.

The acquisition continues Merchantwise Group’s expansion strategy following its 2022 purchase of performance media company RQMedia.

Talia Datt, founder and Managing Director of both acquired agencies, retains her leadership position while taking on additional marketing responsibilities within Merchantwise Group. Datt, a Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2022 honoree, launched The Social CliQ at age 22 and later established The Content CliQ as a creator platform.

“Merchantwise Group represents some of the world’s most iconic and beloved brands, and we’re thrilled to bring our expertise in social, content, and creator marketing to help these brands reach and engage their audiences in new and innovative ways,” Datt said in a statement.

Enhanced Creator Network and Brand Services

The Social CliQ specializes in organic content development for platforms like TikTok and Meta, serving over 300 brands ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies.

The Content CliQ brings a network of more than 3,000 creators and influencers worldwide to Merchantwise Group’s existing brand management operations, which include representation for consumer brands such as Violet Crumble, Bundaberg Rum, and Rip Curl.

“[Talia Datt’s] dynamic team is at the forefront of strategic social media and influencer marketing in Australia, and their talents will enhance our Group’s ability to drive brand growth and deliver superior returns for our clients,” Merchantwise Group CEO Alan Schauder said in a statement, adding that the group plans further expansion through organic growth and strategic acquisitions.

The group’s current portfolio includes Merchantwise and Asembl in brand management, alongside RQMedia’s integrated services supporting over 100 client brands in retail, e-commerce, travel, and consumer services.
