Another Scheme To Lure TikTok Creators: Meta Announces ‘Breakthrough Bonus’ Incentive

Meta has presented its latest initiative to attract content creators from rival platforms. The “Breakthrough Bonus” program offers qualifying creators up to $5,000 in bonuses to transition from TikTok and other platforms to Meta’s ecosystem.

Launched over the weekend, the program provides creators immediate access to Meta’s exclusive Content Monetization program.

How the Breakthrough Bonus Program Works

The “Breakthrough Bonus” program is designed to reward creators who meet specific posting requirements within a 90-day timeframe:

  • Posting Requirements: Creators must publish at least 20 reels on Facebook and 10 reels on Instagram during each 30-day period.
  • Original Content: All content must be original and exclusive to Meta’s platforms.
  • Bonus Calculation: Bonus amounts are determined based on the creator’s existing social media presence across TikTok, YouTube, and other platforms.

Creators accepted into the program will also gain instant access to Meta’s invite-only Content Monetization program, enabling them to generate revenue from their content.

Additional Perks for Creators

Meta is sweetening the deal with several additional benefits:

  1. Meta Verified Subscription: Selected participants will receive a free one-year subscription to Meta Verified, which provides verification and other account benefits.
  2. Cross-Platform Follower Displays: Creators’ Facebook profiles will now showcase follower counts from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other platforms, enhancing transparency and credibility.
  3. Exclusive Content Deals: Meta plans to offer personalized agreements to top TikTok creators to establish a stronger presence on Facebook and Instagram.

These features aim to make the transition smoother for creators while offering them opportunities for greater monetization and visibility.

Meta’s Commitment to Creators

Meta has reported paying over $2 billion to content creators over the past year for reels, videos, photos, and text-based posts. The “Breakthrough Bonus” program builds on this commitment, providing financial incentives for creators to leverage the tech giant’s growing suite of tools and features.

“Breakthrough Bonuses” come on the heels of the announcement of Edits, Meta’s video editing app set to launch next month exclusively on Apple’s iOS platform, with an Android version to follow. Meta is collaborating with select content creators to gather feedback and fine-tune the app before its official release.

The launch of the program coincides with growing challenges for TikTok in the U.S. Although President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday, Jan. 20 to delay the ban for 75 days, the app is still unavailable in app stores, prompting creators to consider alternative platforms.
