Meta and Spotify’s New Collaboration Could Shake Up Music Discovery On Instagram
Meta and Spotify are reportedly developing a new feature allowing continuous music sharing on Instagram.
According to reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi’s findings, the feature, which is still in testing, aims to deepen music integration within Meta’s photo-sharing app.
Paluzzi’s screenshot, shared on Threads, reveals an option for users to “continuously share” their Spotify music on Instagram Notes. This builds upon Instagram’s capability to share 30-second song clips in Notes, a feature introduced over a year ago.

The move mirrors Spotify’s in-app social networking features, which allow users to see friends’ streaming activity.
The company recently rolled out a “Comments” feature for podcasts and launched a mobile app for podcast creators to boost engagement and provide management tools.
Further evidence of the collaboration comes from technologist Chris Messina, who told TechCrunch about the addition of a “SpotifyiOS.framework” component to Instagram’s app.
Messina speculates this could lead to broader music integration, potentially challenging TikTok’s position in music discovery.
TikTok has been making major moves recently in the music department, with initiatives like the “Songs of the Summer” list, the “Short ‘N Sweet” in-app experience promoting Sabrina Carpenter’s album, and “The Tortured Poets Department” in-app activation for Taylor Swift’s latest release.
Meta and Spotify have collaborated previously, launching a Facebook mini-player for Spotify streaming in 2021.
According to TechCrunch, both companies share concerns over Apple’s App Store policies and have been impacted by Apple’s privacy features and competition in music streaming.
Neither Meta nor Spotify has commented on the reported feature for TechCrunch.
