This Finnish Startup Aims To Make Streaming Sustainable, Help Creators Cash In

Noice, a Helsinki-based live-streaming platform for gamers, is launching a new reward program that will allow creators to benefit from the company’s future financial success.

Currently in beta, the program is available to monetizing creators in the UK, EU, and EEA creators.

The company’s Partner Reward Units (PRUs) system enables creators to earn units based on increased viewership, hours watched, and viewer engagement. These PRUs can be converted to cash if Noice lists on a stock exchange or is acquired.

“We are rethinking live streaming to create new opportunities for Creators,” said Jussi Laakkonen, co-founder and CEO of Noice, in a press release. “When viewers also play, they are more engaged with the Creator. New ways to earn mean Creators are already doubling their earnings on Noice.”

The platform offers a 70/30 revenue split with creators, which it claims is the best monetization opportunity in the industry. Noice also allows creators to sell virtual items, potentially multiplying their earnings.

For viewers, Noice incorporates a gameplay element where they can predict what will happen next during a live stream. The company reports this feature enhances interaction and deepens the connection between creators and their audience, potentially leading to higher retention and monetization for creators.

Noice fully supports streaming for popular multiplayer games, including Apex Legends, Dead By Daylight, EA SPORTS FC 25, Fortnite, and Valorant. The company plans to expand its prediction gameplay to more games in the coming months.

In October, Noice intends to open its platform to all creators and games, introducing a new predictions gameplay system to support every game streamed.

The startup positions itself as a community-first, next-generation live-streaming platform. It puts creators at the center of its decision-making process regardless of size.

Noice has secured two significant funding rounds, though specific financial details were not disclosed.

According to a recent Stream Hatchet report, live streaming viewership began to stabilize in 2023, generating 38.3 billion hours watched, the same as 2020’s figures. However, the weekly average surpasses that of 2020 slightly by an additional 4 million hours.
