From Radio Hits To Comedy Skits: Paul Loduca’s Content Creation Journey

A multifaceted creative, Paul Loduca has established himself as one of the most prominent names in the Canadian comedy scene. Transitioning from his time with the popular rock band Neverest, Paul has ventured into various artistic pursuits, including voice acting, content creation, and stand-up comedy.

In this exclusive interview, Paul shares in-depth insights into his creative journey, touching on everything from monetization to his creative process and advice for upcoming comedians and skit makers.

Who Is The Paul That We Don’t Know on Social Media?

“Everything I post is pretty genuine to who I am, my sense of humor, and my values,” he tells Net Influencer.

“Authenticity is the key to his connection with followers, as the content Paul creates follows no trends, challenges, or remakes of other comedian’s ideas,” he adds.

Paul shares that before content creation, he was part of the Canadian rock band Neverest, which gave him unique insights into what to expect from an artistic career.

He stresses that social media is an open window into his life, where he shares everything from comedic preferences to the best moments with friends and loved ones.

From Music to Comedy – How Did You Bridge These Worlds?

“I was familiar with the lifestyle, the business aspect, and the band itself was basically a group of comedians,” Paul says. “So everything was transferred over from there once the band came to a stop around 2015.”

When it was time to move on, Paul didn’t hesitate to dive into acting and producing, fully leveraging social media platforms.

“It’s a very small world in the acting and music world,” he recalls. “Everybody knows everybody. And it’s amazing how the relationships you build end up helping you in ways you never thought they would in the first place.”

“That’s why it’s so important to make genuine connections with people. This business is all about networking and fostering relationships.”

Was It Difficult To Reach Where You Are Today?

“Of course, it’s very difficult,” Paul admits while emphasizing the importance of creating content that resonates personally.”

“When you learn how to not care what people think, it actually makes it easier,” he advises. Paul’s content creation approach is centered around producing content that resonates personally and will, in return, capture the interests of a broader audience.

He says, “It’s difficult because you’re constantly trying to get a public reaction, but also trying to make it worthwhile from a financial standpoint.”

Paul explains that the monetary return on content creation is similar to that of the music industry. Viral success is easy to achieve, yet no financial compensation matches the impact.

Is Content Easier To Monetize than Music?

“It’s much easier to monetize content because musicians are often underpaid, earning just a fraction of a penny per stream,” Paul explains, adding that content generally yields better pay-per-view rates, unlike music, where you need at least a billion streams for the pay to become somewhat sustainable.

“Those who have made it big can earn up to $10,000 every two weeks from brand deals, and even those with smaller audiences could make a decent living if they understood more about the business side,” he states.

What Inspires The Creation Of Your Next Video?

Paul’s creative process is as dynamic as his career path. Whether it’s sketch comedy, voice acting, or stand-up, his approach is tapping into life’s genuine and often absurd moments.

“I grew up loving that stuff, like Mad TV, Saturday Night Live, and my work is highly influenced by the relatability of old-time comedy,” Paul notes.”I also write a lot about the amusing incidents that occur in my daily life, things that I find truly hilarious.”

Additionally, his fiancée also has had a significant influence on his choice of comedy. Paul reveals that both run their PauLyssa Comedy comedy page, where they share relatable couple moments.

“I’m fortunate because she’s naturally funny and authentic in her delivery, which makes the making of every collaborative project a blast,” he tells us.

What Advice Would You Give to Aspiring Creators?

Stay True To Yourself

Paul’s advice to newcomers in the entertainment field is heartfelt and grounded in his own experiences.

“Stay true to yourself and the kind of content that you really want to create,” he suggests, stressing the importance of authenticity over following trends.

He elaborates, “It’s crucial to embrace vulnerability. Being honest with yourself can lead to profound personal breakthroughs.”

“Once you achieve this level of self-awareness, you effectively overcome the greatest challenge you face: your own self-imposed barriers. We frequently obstruct our own progress without even realizing it.”

Paul explains that there are endless collaborative opportunities for creators looking to venture into comedy and make people laugh.

He tells us, “It really just boils down to who I want to work with.”

He elaborates on his selective approach to collaborations, “I won’t just agree to any partnership, but I find it generally manageable because humor is something that resonates universally.”

“Whether it’s an advertisement for a shaver or shampoo, these are products everyone uses,” he adds, “I could incorporate almost any product or service into a comedy skit; it just depends on whether it’s something I’d personally use.”

Paul gives a real-life example: “It’s essential to carefully select opportunities that align with your values and where you feel you can add a genuine human touch. For instance, if a brand wants you to promote dental floss, it’s important to think about how to make that relatable and engaging if you decide to take on the promotional challenge.”

What Makes an Effective Influencer Campaign?

Creative Freedom

As part of his connections and network in the entertainment industry, Paul collaborates with various brands to facilitate effective promotions. Through these experiences, he has gained significant knowledge about paid advertising.

“Many brands impose strict restrictions on what a creator should and shouldn’t do when promoting their product, which I believe detracts from the sincerity of it all,” Paul highlights.

“However, the brands that truly understand their influence give creators the space to work freely. They allow us to present the product in a positive light,” he continues. “As long as that is happening, the creator knows they are shining a positive light.”

Paul suggests that brands are essentially paying creators to build awareness, and the most effective way to do this is by granting them the creative freedom they need.

What’s Next for You in This Creative Journey?

Looking forward, Paul is enthusiastic about continuing to explore the intersections of comedy, acting, and motivational speaking.

His goal is to develop further his platform to inspire and entertain, proving that humor and authenticity can indeed go hand in hand in crafting a successful career in today’s digital age.
