Platform Media Launches UK Content Supergroup Through Merger With Listen Entertainment, Goldhawk Productions

Platform Media has formed a UK content supergroup by merging with Listen Entertainment and Goldhawk Productions. The newly combined entity reports eight-figure revenues with over 70% growth in the past year.

Josh Adley, former Managing Director of Listen, and Matthew Sherry, CEO of Platform Media, will serve as co-CEOs after nine months of working together under parent company PodX. The pair will guide the company’s expansion plans.

“There are seismic shifts happening in the V industry right now,” Sherry said in a press release. “We’ve pioneered a unique monetization model that is leading the industry forward.”

Adley added: “Matthew and I have been trying to find ways to work more closely for years, underpinned by independently having the same vision for the future of the podcast industry.”

Monetization Success

The company’s 360° approach has transformed podcast shows into digital brands generating seven figures annually, with one reaching £3 million in revenue.

This aligns with industry research showing the increased effectiveness of podcast advertising, particularly among dedicated listeners.

Recent research from Acast indicates that more than half of daily podcast listeners worldwide have made purchases after hearing podcast advertisements. This engagement translates to measurable results, with listeners demonstrating higher purchase intent for brands featured in their preferred content.

Content Structure and Portfolio

While Platform Media will serve as the central hub for branded entertainment, marketing, and monetisation, three content labels will focus on original creation:

  • Listen: Leading in entertainment and visualized podcasts
  • Folding Pocket: Setting the agenda in sports content
  • Goldhawk: Multi-award-winning leader in fiction and factual audio storytelling

The 80-person team, based in new Farringdon offices, has produced successful shows, including “Olivia Attwood’s So Wrong It’s Right,” “BBC’s The Traitors: Uncloaked,” and “The Good, The Bad, and The Rugby” with Mike Tindall, James Haskell, and Alex Payne.
