Roblox Corporation released its first economic and social impact report, revealing significant contributions to the U.S. economy and tech job market.
The study, conducted by economic analysis firm Nordicity, shows that between 2017 and 2023, Roblox generated an estimated $1.2 billion in GDP for the U.S. economy.
In 2023 alone, this figure reached $345 million.
Job Creation and Creator Opportunities
While Roblox does not directly employ creators, its Developer Exchange (DevEx) Program has contributed to the equivalent of 17,840 full-time jobs across the country during the seven years.
This impact extends beyond traditional tech hubs, with half of the top-earning creators outside major coastal cities.
The report highlights that 38% of surveyed creators monetizing on the platform stated they would have earned income from making interactive content with Roblox.
Additionally, 56% of these creators focus exclusively on Roblox rather than developing for other platforms.

Over 7,500 of the 5.5 million U.S. creators monetizing on Roblox in the past year earned more than $650.
Platform Accessibility
The platform’s accessibility appears to be a critical factor in its impact.
Roblox Studio, described as “the most accessible 3D development tool in the world,” allows creators to publish globally and iterate quickly. This low-barrier entry point has enabled developers of various experience levels to succeed on the platform.
The report also notes that 44% of surveyed creators from non-traditional tech communities said that without Roblox, they likely wouldn’t be creating or working in technology, starting businesses, or connecting with top brands or artists.
