This trend became particularly evident during a recent weekend of major sporting events, including the EURO 2024 Final, Copa America 2024, and Wimbledon championships.

The EURO 2024 Final between Spain and England generated 2 billion impressions on X, while the Copa America final between Argentina and Colombia drove nearly 400 million impressions. Wimbledon content accumulated 437 million impressions, with posts increasing by 16% year-over-year.

The platform’s appeal to sports fans extends beyond current events to upcoming competitions. Conversations about the Paris 2024 Olympics have surged by 112% in the past month, suggesting a potential for record-breaking interaction during the Olympic Games.

X claims its ability to facilitate real-time discussions is a key factor in its popularity among sports fans. The platform enables users to share reactions before, during, and after events, creating a virtual community experience. 

Additionally, X serves as a space where fans can interact with brands, pundits, and athletes who actively participate in these conversations.
