Paris Hilton, CNN Among “Very Small” Number Of Accounts Hit In TikTok Hack
TikTok confirms it addressed a cyberattack that compromised access to a “very small” number of brand and celebrity accounts, including CNN. As Reuters reports, the company collaborates closely with CNN to restore account access and implement enhanced security measures.
“We have been collaborating closely with CNN to restore account access and implement enhanced security measures to safeguard their account moving forward,” the spokesperson told Reuters.
While not compromised, the account of reality star Paris Hilton was targeted, according to a Reuters source. TikTok’s parent ByteDance currently challenges a U.S. law requiring it to sell TikTok by January 2024 or face a ban, as the White House seeks to end Chinese ownership citing national security concerns. TikTok maintains it will not share U.S. user data with China.
