Tinashe, Indie Artists Shine On TikTok’s UK & Ireland 2024 Summer Music Charts

TikTok reveals Tinashe’s “Nasty” as the UK’s top song of summer 2024.

The track also secures the second spot on TikTok’s global summer chart, demonstrating its widespread appeal.

The social media platform’s music charts showcase various artists and genres that have captured user attention over the summer months.

TikTok’s UK & Ireland and Global Songs of Summer lists reflect the platform’s influence on music discovery and promotion.

Tinashe’s Rise to the Top

Tinashe‘s success comes after she transitions to independent artistry.

“Nasty” has inspired over 10 million video creations on the platform, with users attempting to match the artist’s choreography.

“Thank you to all my amazing fans who made ‘Nasty’ the #1 Song of the Summer in the UK and #2 globally,” Tinashe said in TikTok’s blog post.

She added, “Watching all the videos you have been making on TikTok has been so fun and incredible. I’m grateful for your continued support and hope you all enjoy making more content for the rest of my album, Quantum Baby.”

More UK & Ireland Chart-Topping Artists

The UK & Ireland chart highlights emerging talent.

LeoStayTrill, a 17-year-old South London rapper, claims the fourth position with “pink lemonade (str8 reload).” The track, produced in his bedroom, gained traction through a viral dance trend on the platform.

Another rising artist, Myles Smith, appears at number eight with “Stargazing.” The song has featured in over 322,000 TikTok creations and reached number five on the UK Singles Chart.

Jordan Adetunji’s “KEHLANI” takes the ninth spot, peaking at number 21 on the UK Singles Chart and 52 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Globally, Chilean artists FloyyMenor and Cris MJ top the list with “Gata Only,” which has sparked over 15 million creations on TikTok.

This marks the first time a Chilean artist has entered Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart since 1999.

“TikTok’s Songs of the Summer list beautifully demonstrates how the magic of TikTok helps our global community to discover and promotes a diverse range of incredibly talented artists and their music,” Ole Obermann, Global Head of Music Business Development at TikTok, said in the blog post.

TikTok allows users to find regional Songs of the Summer lists within the app’s Music Charts section, providing localized insights into popular tracks across different markets.

How TikTok Impacts Music

The recent collaboration between Post Malone and Morgan Wallen, “I Had Some Help,” has generated significant engagement on TikTok and inspired over 140,000 creator videos since its release.

This surge in engagement coincides with TikTok’s launch of the #F1TRILLION in-app experience, designed to promote Post Malone’s debut country album, “F-1 Trillion.”

In May, TikTok launched Fan Spotlight, a feature that allows artists to showcase their favorite fan videos on their music tab. Superstar Billie Eilish premiered Fan Spotlight as part of her #HITMEHARDANDSOFT takeover on TikTok to promote her new album.

In April, Taylor Swift partnered with TikTok to deliver an immersive experience for her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”

Shortly after the collaboration was announced, TikTok and Swift’s record label, Universal Music Group (UMG), made a licensing agreement, ending their months-long dispute that led to the removal of UMG’s entire catalog from the short-form video platform.
