Social Agency team5pm Unveils New Feature To Help Marketers Analyze Competitor Rankings

Social agency team5pm‘s technology platform, topictree, has launched Content Gap Analysis, a new feature that helps marketers identify missed keyword opportunities where competitors rank but they do not. The tool extends the platform’s existing Topic Finder and Rank Tracker capabilities, enabling brands to close gaps in their content strategy.

Building on Existing Platform Strengths

While Topic Finder focuses on initial content ideation and Rank Tracker monitors ongoing performance, the new feature identifies blind spots by analyzing competitor rankings across Google, YouTube, and TikTok.

“With Topic Finder, we help agencies and brands identify relevant video topics, and with Rank Tracker, we enable them to measure their performance across platforms with real-time insights about their channels’ performance and of their competitors,” states Alexander Atzberger, International Partnerships Lead at topictree. “Content Gap Analysis brings a proactive dimension to the platform—helping marketers find areas where competition is excelling and create strategies to outrank them.”

Key Capabilities of the New Feature

The Content Gap Analysis feature provides three primary functions:

  • Keyword Opportunity Identification: Discovers high-value keywords where competitors outperform, allowing proactive content strategy adjustments.
  • Competitor Comparison: Analyzes multiple competitors simultaneously to uncover trends, keyword dominance, or strategic blind spots.
  • Cross-Platform Intelligence: Merges competitive data from Google, YouTube, and TikTok into a single view for comprehensive insights.

“It’s about uncovering opportunities and ensuring that no valuable keyword is left unchallenged,” adds Atzberger. “Essentially, it’s a double tap: You identify the relevant keywords of your competition before starting the video production.”

The launch comes as video marketing continues to gain traction. According to a recent Wyzowl report, video usage as a marketing tool has grown from 61% of brands in 2016 to 91% in 2023 and 2024, with 90% of marketers reporting “good ROI” from video marketing in 2024.

A 2024 Vidico report reveals that tech marketers are increasingly turning to video to simplify messaging and enhance brand awareness. In a survey of over 300 marketers at mid-sized tech companies, 49% cite explaining products and services as the top marketing challenge solved with video, while 39% use videos primarily to improve brand awareness.

Rank Tracker, introduced in late 2024, was described by topictree as the first tool to analyze video rankings across multiple platforms, including TikTok.
