X (formerly Twitter) announced a significant change to its livestreaming feature. According to a post from the verified @Live account, only Premium subscribers will soon be able to create live video streams on the platform.
⏩Starting soon, only Premium subscribers will be able to livestream (create live video streams) on X. This includes going live from an encoder with X integration. Upgrade to Premium to continue going live. https://t.co/4uy4Ju0cmU

This update affects users who livestream directly on X or use external encoders with X integration. The company has not specified an exact implementation date for this change.
X currently offers three subscription tiers:
- Basic ($3/month or $32/year): Includes post-editing, longer posts and videos, reply prioritization, text formatting, and bookmark folders.
- Premium ($8/month or $84/year): Adds blue checkmark verification, fewer ads, creator subscriptions, and participation in ad revenue sharing.
- Premium+ ($16/month or $168/year): This option provides ad-free browsing in the For You and Following tabs and enhanced reply visibility.
This move aligns with X owner Elon Musk’s efforts to increase revenue. Earlier this year, Musk suggested charging new users a small fee to post immediately after account creation, aiming to reduce spam and bot activity.
