YouTube Experiments With AI-Powered Idea Generator To Boost Creator Creativity

YouTube is testing the new “Brainstorm with Gemini” feature that integrates Google’s artificial intelligence to help creators generate video ideas, titles, and thumbnails.

YouTube announced this development through its Creator Insider channel. At the same time, a company spokesperson confirmed to TechCrunch that the feature is currently available to a select group of creators as part of a limited experiment.

The company plans to evaluate creator feedback before considering a broader rollout.

This AI-powered tool complements an existing content inspiration feature launched in May, which provides creators with video topic suggestions based on audience interests and generates outlines for talking points.

The new Gemini integration offers creators an alternative method for idea generation, allowing YouTube to assess creator preferences between the two approaches.

Creators participating in the experiment can access the inspiration tool and the Brainstorm with Gemini feature through YouTube Studio. After entering a video idea in the search bar, creators are presented with both options for content planning.

While other platforms like TikTok and Instagram focus on using generative AI to create digital avatars, YouTube’s approach centers on leveraging AI technology to enhance content creation.

Growing AI Competition

Integrating Gemini, Google’s family of large language models, into YouTube’s platform represents a strategic move to encourage creators to utilize Google’s AI tools over competing options.

This development comes as a recent investigation revealed that major tech companies have used content from thousands of YouTube videos to train AI models without creators’ knowledge or consent.

Soon after, YouTuber David Millette filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, alleging unauthorized use of video content for AI training.

However, the lawsuit also notes that some Google employees were aware of OpenAI’s use of YouTube videos for training data but did not act, potentially due to concerns about facing similar issues with their AI development efforts.
